Private Camtasia Coaching and What Clients Find Most Difficult

Earlier this week I sat with a client who flew in from Florida to learn Camtasia Studio 8. We met at a location in downtown Atlanta where he could get some private coaching in order to finish up a series of tutorials for his company. Sometimes, when you are in a hurry, it’s worth paying a little extra for one to one training and just knock your project out.Camtasia Coaching

I Love One to One Coaching for Several Reasons:

1. It helps me see exactly where people are the most confused in the program. I can look at their faces and body language and see when they have that “look”. They also aren’t afraid to come right out and say something like “Hold on – I’m not getting that part”. In a group setting, you rarely get that kind of feedback.

2. People have much more specific questions about the practical uses of the software when they have a project that needs to get done. Instead of just using a generic project, we can see which features of the software would best be suited to their needs. Sometimes I won’t even take the time to teach them parts of Camtasia that they’ve express that they’ll never use.

3. I get to see some cool uses of the software. For example, one of my students last month was using it to create an Investor Video. The video introduced her with a full motion video, described her start up company, then kindly asked for a ten million dollar investment at the end. That’s some ‘Call to Action’ wouldn’t you say?

What Clients Find Most Difficult

After doing Camtasia Coaching like this for about four years now, it seems that the hardest part of learning this software is not what people think it will be. They often think they’ll have trouble with all the enhancements like, zooming, adding arrows, tilting, music, etc.

That is actually the most fun and easiest part.

The hardest part (from a technical standpoint), by far, is synchronizing the audio and video and correcting errors that occur in only the video or only the audio – then making sure those tracks stay matched up. I’ve seen grown men cry after an hour trying to “get” this.

Free “Fixing Mistakes” Training on Thursday Night

So, if you find that part really frustrates you too and you are wondering if there are any tips to make it easier, I’m doing a 30 minute free training on just that one task. We’re just going to work on correcting mistakes on your timeline and I’ll go over it and over it until you get it. I’ll even talk about “Grouping” which I hated until I learned how to use it correctly.

Register for the free training on How to Fix your Camtasia Audio and Video Mistakes. It will take place on Thursday, July 11th at 7 pm EDT and feel free to come in your pajamas as this will be informal with no fancy PowerPoint presentation or training offer at the end. Also, there will not be a replay but if there are enough people who register but can’t come that night I might do the same training (during the morning) next month. If you’re not on our mailing list, please Join for Free to get emailed when I do the next session.

Hi Michelle.
This is one training I am really looking forward to. I have been working diligently to improve my audio after watching the Andy and Mike VideoGenesis promotional series. I’ve purchased an external Rode SmartLav mic for my iPhone and it’s making a big difference, even though I need to sync my audio track in Camtasia after recording remotely (using a separate iPad). I get it now. SmartPhone (iPhone or Droid, doesn’t matter) internal audio SUCKS, and puts you squarely in the camp of amateurs. Now I can push forward and raise my own internal bar of standards.

Hi

7 pm EDT is the early hours of the morning for those of us on the other side of the pond. Please provide us with a recording.

I would love to watch your webinars but here in the UK the time is not an option. Could we watch a replay from your web site or would I be expected to pay for this.

Many thanks

Love the program by the wey

Hi Stefan and Derek,

I know and I’m sorry about the time not working for you guys. I’ll try to vary the times of these types of mini demos in the future to accommodate more timezones. Usually this kind of demo is only done for the paid members in our Monthly Coaching or the full Learn Camtasia course so it’s not really fair for me to post a replay for all blog readers. I hope to see you both next time, though.

For those of us with other jobs, on the West Coast, we cannot participate in a 4 PM PDT event! No replay means we are out 100%!

Looking forward to this event
