Private Camtasia Coaching and What Clients Find Most Difficult
Earlier this week I sat with a client who flew in from Florida to learn Camtasia Studio 8. We met at a location in downtown Atlanta where he could get some private coaching in order to finish up a series of tutorials for his company. Sometimes, when you are in a hurry, it’s worth paying a little extra for one to one training and just knock your project out.
I Love One to One Coaching for Several Reasons:
1. It helps me see exactly where people are the most confused in the program. I can look at their faces and body language and see when they have that “look”. They also aren’t afraid to come right out and say something like “Hold on – I’m not getting that part”. In a group setting, you rarely get that kind of feedback.
2. People have much more specific questions about the practical uses of the software when they have a project that needs to get done. Instead of just using a generic project, we can see which features of the software would best be suited to their needs. Sometimes I won’t even take the time to teach them parts of Camtasia that they’ve express that they’ll never use.
3. I get to see some cool uses of the software. For example, one of my students last month was using it to create an Investor Video. The video introduced her with a full motion video, described her start up company, then kindly asked for a ten million dollar investment at the end. That’s some ‘Call to Action’ wouldn’t you say?
What Clients Find Most Difficult
After doing Camtasia Coaching like this for about four years now, it seems that the hardest part of learning this software is not what people think it will be. They often think they’ll have trouble with all the enhancements like, zooming, adding arrows, tilting, music, etc.
That is actually the most fun and easiest part.
The hardest part (from a technical standpoint), by far, is synchronizing the audio and video and correcting errors that occur in only the video or only the audio – then making sure those tracks stay matched up. I’ve seen grown men cry after an hour trying to “get” this.
Free “Fixing Mistakes” Training on Thursday Night
So, if you find that part really frustrates you too and you are wondering if there are any tips to make it easier, I’m doing a 30 minute free training on just that one task. We’re just going to work on correcting mistakes on your timeline and I’ll go over it and over it until you get it. I’ll even talk about “Grouping” which I hated until I learned how to use it correctly.
Register for the free training on How to Fix your Camtasia Audio and Video Mistakes. It will take place on Thursday, July 11th at 7 pm EDT and feel free to come in your pajamas as this will be informal with no fancy PowerPoint presentation or training offer at the end. Also, there will not be a replay but if there are enough people who register but can’t come that night I might do the same training (during the morning) next month. If you’re not on our mailing list, please Join for Free to get emailed when I do the next session.
