Getting the Ken Burns effect in your Camtasia Videos
According to Wikipedia
“The Ken Burns effect is a type of panning and zooming effect used in video production from still imagery.
The name derives from extensive use of the technique by American documentarian Ken Burns. The technique predates his use of it, but his name has become associated with the effect in much the same way as Alfred Hitchcock is associated with the Hitchcock zoom.”
Those of us who are used to creating software demos or tutorials have been using this technique but we just call it panning to see different parts of the software interface. When you have a still graphical image and you want that feeling of motion and of viewing the scene from a wider perspective it’s a good time to try this effect. Recently, on one of our weekly group coaching sessions, a student asked me how to get this look using Camtasia Studio.
If you’ve used this technique in one of your own videos and would like to post a link to it below we’d love to see!
