Bi-Weekly Video Update – 07/13/17

It goes without saying that most people get bored with seeing the same old thing. That’s why you may have just gotten back from, or are planning, a nice change of scenery this summer.

In today’s Video News (brought to you by Michelle Schoen) you’ll learn why it’s also important to do something different when you’re starting out in your screencasting business. If you dare to be different, you’ll enjoy this newsletter.

From the Blog:

A Free Sound Effects Resource

Sound effects are the unsung heroes of most productions. They’re the pre-recorded sound cues that help us tell a story.

Choosing the right sound effect is not difficult, provided that you have a sound effects library or have purchased access to an on-line sound effects store.

After auditioning a few sounds, there is usually a moment where you’ll find the right one and say “that’s it!”

After searching for a particular effect online, I came across a free site with over 5000 sound effects that can be used in all your video projects.

Wouldn’t it be entertaining to add a few kiss sound effects to a video on dating or the sound of an engine starting up to your video about car maintenance?

Imagine the possibilities!

Heads up for Two Super Deals Next Week

Next Tuesday our 5 module popular class on the “Science of Scripting and Storyboarding” will go on sale. The lowered price will only last 4 days so if you’ve been meaning to increase your skills in this essential area, you’ll have a chance to do so for half price on July 18th. Reminders will follow.

Next Wednesday the doors open to the Blogging Concentrated stack of products. This year I’ve contributed a Camtasia product to what’s called the BC Stack which is part of an $8,000 package of products you can get for just $27. People are contributing really great products, not their freebies, so this is one of the good ones.

I don’t know what everyone else is contributing yet and I won’t know until the doors are open on July 19th. But you can go to their site and see what was included in prior years and then sign up to be alerted when it opens next Wednesday.

That’s it for this week – see you in two weeks!

Bi-Weekly Video Update – 07/26/17

It’s Lon Naylor this week with a video tutorial and a little-known resource to share with you.

From the Blog:

How To Do a “Typing” Text Effect in Camtasia 9
A text effect that looks like someone “typing” (i.e. letters coming in one-by-one) is a handy and interesting effect! In Camtasia 9, you can create this nifty effect… IF you know how to work with Behaviors and make a couple of quick & easy little tweaks to the default animation settings.

In this tutorial, I’ll show you from start to finish how to create and apply the proper Behavior and settings to make it happen. I also have some additional tips & tricks for you to experiment with and customize to get just the look you want.

Cool Resource: Callouts!

OK. This is one of my “best kept secret” weapons.

My buddy Peter Gillberg is a Camtasia pioneer when it comes to building sweet Camtasia assets. Truly innovative stuff that you can drop into your video projects and modify.

You can sign up for nothing and get a very nice free sample pack to play with!

Check out ==> Callouts by Peter Gillberg

Highly Recommended Membership with unlimited downloads at a steal of a deal! Pro level quality.

In fact, one of my most popular YouTube videos is a tutorial of how I reverse engineered one of Peter’s awesome techniques: Creating 3D Rotating Text
