Weekly Video Update – 06/05/15

Hi there! I hope you have had a great weekend so far. It’s Michelle Schoen this week with your Learn Camtasia Video News.

From the Blog:

An Easier Way to Fix Your “Talking Head” Video Mistakes
Being a Screencast Specialist has its advantages. You don’t have to ever worry about how you look in a video or take the time to memorize a script. When you only show what is on your computer screen, it eliminates a whole lot of other concerns such as lighting, choosing a camera and setting up a shot.

I do feel, however, that some videos are really better suited for the “talking head” format. So, for a recent sales page for my personal coaching service, I decided to add some video of myself (mixed in with some PowerPoints). My decision to get into a little full motion video and the resulting constructive feedback was worth getting out of my yoga pants and putting on a bit of mascara for a couple of hours.

The thing is… since I do these types of videos so rarely, I’m always running into the same few problems…

Want to Learn More about Setting Up or Editing Talking Head Videos?

Yesterday, I went online to find more tips about editing full motion, talking head style videos. I ended up at Lynda.com where I found 26 different videos to learn from.

I’m going to take advantage of their free ten day trial.

Like me, you could probably watch several courses for free during the next ten days if you can fit it in your schedule.

10-day free trial

That’s it for this week – see you next weekend!

Weekly Video Update – 06/12/15

Lon Naylor this week with your Video News. Wow… I spent most of the weekend working on some reviews for you.

From the Blog:

Membership Sites For Selling Your Videos
Our basic business model is this: Create video training and coaching programs and sell them to customers. Easy right?

Well… how do you tell who is a paying customer and deliver the products & services they paid for yet keep that those products secure from un-paying eyes?

A Membership Site is an excellent way to go. See what I mean on the blog:

There are some pretty exciting and easy systems coming out now that take the very technical & complicated “duct tape” task of building a site and make it REALLY easy.

These new “cloud-based” platforms may literally change the way we build profitable websites delivering our video training & coaching services so it’s good to know about them.

Explaindio 2.0 is Coming!

If you know me, you know I am NOT a fan of most “video creating” software out there. Why? Because they are not video editing programs!

All the hype of the whiteboard sketch and animation programs leaves most folks with “less than professional” results trying to make good video with these…

But… I DO LOVE using them as video content creators and then pulling the clips into Camtasia to finish them off.

One of my favorites for this is called Explaindio.

On Monday, June 15th, the highly awaited 2.0 version will start the pre-launch process.

Check it out HERE: ==> Explaindio 2.0

I’ve had the software for a couple of weeks and it’s a very nice update.

I’ll be posting more about Explaindio soon but for now, follow the launch with me:

Weekly Video Update – 06/19/15

Hi there – it’s Michelle this week. Every once in a while Father’s Day and my birthday fall on the same day. Happy Father’s Day to my fabulous Dad and Happy Birthday to me! Now that I have that out of the way… I’d like to talk below about the differences between creating in a course in GoToWebinar vs Camtasia and also give you a couple of tips for building a reputation as a Video Specialist/Contractor.

From the Blog:

Many of the courses on the Learn Camtasia site (and the tutorials we put on YouTube) were created from GotoMeeting and GoToWebinar recordings which were then edited and produced with Camtasia Studio.

Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been getting more inquiries about when it makes sense to create a course live with GoToWebinar versus recording it privately with Camtasia. In this post I’ll share my reasoning…

Become a Video Specialist by Sharing What You Know

At least half of my income comes from being hired to produce videos for business owners. If you’re interested in making a full time or part time income as a screencaster you’ll need to put your work out there.

To get contracts as a video creator, you need to spend some time building your reputation, demonstrating your expertise and connecting with others. Here are a couple of ways to do that:

1. Create a Blog to Share What You Know.

You don’t need to get into the SEO rat race trying to find all the right keywords, headlines, and all of that. Instead, see the blog as something a bit more personal. See it as a way to document what you know and what you’re learning. Ditch the generic content and focus on the practical application. That’s where people will see your expertise. I love the way many of the folks in our weekly coaching do write ups of what they did and why. And sometime they’ll create training and tutorials showing other students how to duplicate their techniques.

2. Put your Videos Online

I’m going to let you in on an industry secret. There are a lot of people in our industry who write about elearning but never show their work. When I ask them about it, they always have some lame excuse about proprietary courses. You’re telling me that in 20 years you’ve not created a single course you can show publicly? It’s a lot easier to be a critic on the sideline than it is to risk criticism for the work done. You can be a step ahead of many of our industry’s experts if you show what you’re doing. They don’t need to be big productions. Show what you did and explain why you did it that way. To those just learning, YOU are the expert.

That’s it for this week – see you next weekend!

Weekly Video Update – 06/26/15

Lon Naylor here with this week’s video tips, tricks and resources!

From the Blog:

YouTube “End Cards” are excellent pieces of content to add to your videos that you will be uploading to YouTube. They increase retention, engagement, sharing… LOTS of benefits!

One of the more common and effective tactics is to include a small preview of another video on your channel and encourage your viewers to “Watch Next Video” and use an Annotation to allow them to simply click on this preview and be taken to watch it.

Well… getting that little preview clip is kind of a pain!

Watch this short tutorial for a much easier way I’m now using to “grab” my Watch Next Video preview clips:

Video Marketing Funnels

During the coming week, I’ll be working on evaluating and updating our video marketing business. By that I mean our marketing “funnels”.

For a business to grow, you really need to be able to drive prospects to pages & offers, build a mailing list, send great content, build trust & rapport, LOTS of stuff!

Well… all of that “stuff” means having systems & pages, integration, data collection, etc. – all kinds of technical junk that I’m really just tired of dealing with!

We currently use LeadPages, OptimizePress, Aweber, GoToWebinar and more to “tie” everything together.

There are however, drag-and-drop programs that let you build such a thing. Here’s a very interesting one that is re-launching this week with a super deal (it’s been in development for a decade):

Check it out HERE ==> 10 Minute Funnels

Let me know what you think?

That’s it for this week – see you next weekend!
