YouTube Video Directory Trick

Want a cool trick for getting more views and subscribers with your YouTube videos?

In this video tutorial, I’m going to “leverage” (read that as: rip off) my very good friend James Wedmore of the Video Traffic Academy and show you how to use a free PowerPoint template and Camtasia Studio 8 to create a YouTube Directory video clip.

First, watch James as he lays out this awesome video marketing tactic:

As you noticed, James is a Mac guy! So…here’s how to use this technique in the Windows World:

I’m a bit confused. Why would you want two videos running at the same time. That’s so encouraging ADD behavior. I like the idea of having a video directory where there’s easy access to one video after another, but to have so much going on at one time is #$%&ing crazy.

Damnit Lon that’s the sexiest video I’ve seen all day! Thank you so much for the inspiration and downloadables. You are, as ever… Tha Man.

Lon,
Great stuff…

QUESTIONS of course!
It looked like you added it to the end of your video…but then when your video played, the new version was up the entire video… so maybe I missed something. I thought this was to be at the end of a video, not thruout… just curious…

Is it possible to accomplish this with Camtasia 7 or other program? (windows)

Can you tell me easiest way to add this new video directory to all the existing videos we’ve already uploaded? (if that’s possible!)

Thanks!
Christine

    Hi Christine,

This CAN be done in Camtasia 7 but with some big limitations because you only have 1 video track. You could use just the static image created with PPT and then maybe add some callouts instead of the video clips.

You could also embed a video into the PPT (but only 1…two won’t play simultaneously) and export that as a video putting it at the end of a Camtasia 7 project…

As for adding a Directory to existing YouTube videos, I’m still checking on that. James seems to indicate “No”…can’t do that but there is an Edit video feature that at first glance seems like you could add an unlisted video at the end.

    I’ll keep everyone posted.

P.S. to Lon
Just watched the tutorial again… think I got it… I think I see now where you just added it to the end… except my other questions stand … thanks!

Hi Lon, I’ve done something similar to this and created a slide in PowerPoint with the boxes, saved as high res graphic. On this example, I put a screen grab of videos on one slide and used YouTube annotations to link to each one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUbnGpKKHmo

Very cool, as always. Thanks.

Lon, I like the idea and you describe how to put the template onto Camtasia 8 and add the videos/graphics. What I think you missed however, is the critical point that the subscribe ‘box’ and ‘watch the next video’ box also need to be hyperlinked so that they take the viewer to where you want them to go. Or did I miss that?

BTW – did James speed up his video commentary? I know that he talks fast but not THAT fast!
