All About Behaviors in Camtasia 9

Hands down my favorite new feature in Camtasia 9 has to be “Behaviors”.

What are those?

Behaviors are pre-configured animation templates that you can drop onto visual elements on the timeline (images, callouts, text, video, etc.).

What can you do with them?

Here’s an experiment I created to see just how much I could push the animation features in Camtasia 9. It relies heavily on Behaviors with some regular transition animations as well:

Granted, that’s a fairly complex example but I could NEVER have done that in Camtasia 8! In fact, I would have used PowerPoint for animations and exported a video to pull into Camtasia but…with Behaviors? I’m totally rethinking how I create these nice effects and will be using Camtasia 9 much more all kinds of animation like Titles, Lower Thirds, Explainer videos, and Kinetic Typography (like the sample).

In this tutorial, I’ll show you what Behaviors are, how to use them, and tips & tricks:

Three animations for each behaviour that you can mix and match! This would be nice to use for call-outs or my title page for each episode of my podcast. Buffed out example of kinetic typography set to the Maroon Five song.

That video you created with the behaviors was amazing Lon!

I had no idea you could do stuff like that with the new Camtasia version (I already have ver 9 but it’s honestly a bit overwhelming so I still have been using version 8).

Going to give it another whirl, I saw a few of your other videos and the new interface doesn’t looks as scary now, thanks a million man!
