Camtasia Studio Tip: Create the “LiveStream” Side by Side Video Effect

Have you ever wondered how video creators get that side by side tilted video effect that you may see on YouTube or on TV? For example, on one side of the screen you will see a talking head and on the other side you might see an animated PowerPoint or video of a software application in use.

If you have an account at the video broadcasting company LiveStream it can be done using their software during a live streaming event. This is the case in the sample YouTube video referred to by a member of our Screencast Coaching group. But I also show him how this same technique can also be achieved by using Camtasia Studio.

The easiest way to do this is to

Step One: Fire up your Camtasia Recorder and be sure to click on the “Show Webcam” box

Step Two: Present your content while recording both your screen and your webcam. This gives you two separate videos to work with.

Step Three: Arrange the two videos on your canvas as I describe in the video below.

This technique provides a unique look for those who are a bit bored with the picture in picture effect where the instructor is in a little box in the corner and want to try something new and fun.

What about you? Have you ever tried something a little different when you want to show two videos at the same time?
